Tigers Excel In Overtime Win

Springfield, OH – It was a fight to the finish for the Wittenberg University field hockey team, as the Red and White defeated the Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin 2-1 in overtime from Edwards-Maurer Field. The Tigers led the shot tally on the day 17-8.

Game Breakdown

Allison Ormsby led the Tiger attack, recording four shots and breaking opening the Tiger scoring effort in the 54th minute with an unassisted goal. Wittenberg kept the pressure up through the remaining minutes, as Concordia came back to tie the game at 1-1 in the 58th minute. With the first overtime set, the Falcons from Concordia would get the first scoring opportunity after being awarded the penalty corner. After a Wittenberg scoring opportunity at the other end, strong defense by the Tigers and a steal led to the game-winning goal by Jensen Bury. Emma Hurguy picks up the win in goal for Wittenberg, making four saves against five shots on goal.

The Tigers will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5, when they kickoff NCAC action and host the Fighting Scots from the College of Wooster at 1:00 PM.
