Three Tigers Earn NFHCA All-Region

GILBERT, Ariz. – The Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-Region squads were announced on Wednesday with 196 student-athletes receiving either first or second-team recognition across the six regions.

The Tigers placed three members on the All-Great Lakes Region First and Second Team. Senior defender Zara Tickner earned First Team honors, scoring two goals and recording three defensive saves. Maddie Goelz and Channa Visseren each earned Second Team All-Region honors. In her final season, Goelz tallied nine points on three goals and three assists, including one game-winner. Visseren led the Wittenberg offense with 15 goals and five assists for 35 points in her first season with the Tigers.

This is the third time for Tickner, earning back-to-back honors in 2014 and 2015. Goelz has now closed out her Tiger career with back-to-back All-Region honors.

Wittenberg finished the season at 14-6 and 10-4 in NCAC action. Making their first appearance in the NCAC Championship game against Denison, falling to the Big Red on the road 2-1. This is the winningest season the Tigers have had since their 2010 NCAC Tournament Championship appearance, finishing 15-4 and 11-1.
