Tigers Unable To Ignite Offensive Spark Against Big Red

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger football team fell in their North Coast Athletic Conference showdown with the Denison Big Red, 28-10. The newly ignited rivalry saw less-than 800 total yards of offense combined between the two sides. The Tiger offense was highlighted by a Drew Sterett 14-yard touchdown reception, cutting the Denison lead down, 21-10.

Sterett now has six touchdown's on the season, scoring in six consecutive games for Wittenberg. The senior wideout tallied three receptions for 40 yards on the day. His longest catch of the day was the touchdown.

Junior quarterback Collin Brown completed 21 of 37 passes for 218 yards.

Garrett Gross led the Tiger rushing attack with 14 carries, picking up 83-yards. The three-headed monster of Gross, Hall and Anderson split 31 rushes for 165 yards.

Cameron Snurr led the Tiger defense with eight tackles including four solo takedowns. Matt Render, Grant Hollinger and Conner Walls tallied six tackles. Render and Walls made their way into the Big Red backfield for a sack. Mike Knock rushed the Denison quarterback for a 10-yard loss and his fifth sack of the season.

Wittenberg will return to action on Saturday, October 29th, traveling to the College of Wooster. Kickoff against the Fighting Scots is set for 1:30 pm.
