Tigers Overtake Ohio Wesleyan For Late Win From The Road

Delaware, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger football team traveled to Ohio Wesleyan taking down the Battling Bishops, 24-23 in a last-second walk-off win, in their second NCAC road match-up of the season. The Tigers held the Battling Bishops scoreless in the both the first and fourth quarters. The Wittenberg defense would come up with a momentum swinging blocked extra-point kick midway through the fourth, adding a turnover deep in their own territory late in the game, picked up by the Wittenberg's Logan Jewsikow. With under two-minutes on the clock, the Tigers put together a 12 play 81-yard scoring drive, leading to a 19-yard Brandon Goodwin field goal conversion, putting Wittenberg ahead 24-23 with under 10 seconds in regulation.

Game Breakdown

The Tigers put up the first points of the afternoon, as the defense helped the offense with Jordan Burkey taking the OWU interception 52-yards the opposite way for the pick-six. Bobby Froehlich connected with Jake Saus midway through the second quarter for the 15-yard pass and catch, putting the Tigers ahead 14-0. Ohio Wesleyan found their offense midway through the second quarter, putting up back-to-back scores, as the two sides went into the break tied at 14-14. Gene Nobles put up the only Wittenberg points of the third quarter, capping off the 80-yard Tiger scoring drive with the 15-yard touchdown reception from Froehlich.
