Springfield, Ohio – Wide receiver Corey Stump (Lima, Ohio/Central Catholic) and safety Winston Thomas (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) are among 872 student-athletes from 277 schools who qualified for induction into the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society following the 2015 season.

To be nominated for the Hampshire Honor Society, student-athletes must have been a starter or significant contributor in their final season of eligibility while achieving at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and meeting all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements and graduation.

Stump was awarded three varsity letters after earning Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year as a freshman for the Tigers. He was a starting wide receiver in each of his last two seasons, battling through injuries to record 127 career receptions, which ranks 10th in program history.

Stump caught a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC)-best 74 passes in 2015, the second-best total in program history, and he picked up first-team All-NCAC honors. Stump set the school record for receptions in a game on Oct. 24 against Hiram as he hauled in 16 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns.

Following the season, Stump earned second-team Capital One Academic All-America honors, and he became just the fifth Wittenberg student-athlete to earn a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

Thomas earned three letters for the Tigers, and he was a starter throughout his junior and senior seasons. He earned first-team All-NCAC honors in 2014, and he finished his career with 92 tackles, five interceptions, seven pass break-ups, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in 34 games.

Wittenberg posted a record of 8-2 in 2015, including a mark of 7-2 in the league, good for second place in the final standings. The Tigers won three NCAC titles in the last four years with Stump and Thomas wearing the Red & White, compiling a sparkling overall record of 37-8.

The Tigers will open the 2016 season with a home game against Capital on Saturday, Sept. 3. Wittenberg will kick off the NCAC campaign two weeks later at Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday, Sept. 17.
