Howard Joins Staff as Asst. Director for Facilities, Events & Club Sports

Springfield, OH – Wittenberg University Vice President and Director of Athletics, Dr. Gary Williams, has named Deb Howard as the Assistant Director for Facilities, Events & Club Sports. Howard began her service with the Wittenberg Athletic Department on Monday, August 10th.

Howard arrives at Wittenberg after spending the past two academic years at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. She served as the Coordinator of Recreational Sports and Athletic Facilities during the 18-19 academic year, before elevating to the Coordinator of Operations and Events for the 19-20 academic year.

 “I am excited to become a part of the Wittenberg family,” said Howard “I would like to thanks Dr. Gary Williams, Jonathan Wojciechowski, and the entire search committee for this opportunity. I am truly looking forward to working with our amazing students, coaches and campus community.”

Prior to her time at Rose-Hulman, Howard worked as an Assistant Park Manager for the City of Indianapolis Department of Parks and Recreation from November of 2017 to October of 2018. Howard, who holds a Masters’ of Science in Recreation and Sport Administration from Western Kentucky University, also received valuable first-hand experience in the areas of facility management and recreation while at WKU, serving as an intern for both Game Day Operations and Facilities and Operations.

“We are thrilled to welcome Deb to Wittenberg University and the Athletic Administration Team.” said Williams, “While we are excited to have Deb as part of the Athletic Department, we know that her experience in the areas of recreation, intramurals and club sports will reach far beyond just our walls and have a positive impact on every Wittenberg student.”

Howard, who is originally from Mount Vernon, New York, earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science from Southern Connecticut State University in 2015. Howard was also an intercollegiate student-athlete, competing on the SCSU Owls NCAA Div. II Women’s Volleyball team during her time in New Haven, Connecticut.
