Wes Mayberry joined Wittenberg University's Department of Athletics and Recreation as the Associate Director of Athletics Communications in January 2024.

A native of Grove City, Ohio, Mayberry came to Wittenberg after more than two years working at Ohio Northern University. During his time at ONU, Mayberry studied sport administration at Bowling Green State University, completing his master's degree in 2023.

Mayberry earned his bachelor of science in journalism with a minor in economics and summa cum laude honors from Ohio University in 2013. He started his professional career as a reporter and staff writer with the Jackson County Sentinel in Scottsboro, Alabama, from 2013-15 before spending five years at the Mountain Press in Sevierville, Tennessee, as the sports editor. He followed that with stops at the Wakulla News in Crawfordville, Florida, and the Paducah Sun in Paducah, Kentucky.

During his journalism career, Mayberry collected several honors and awards, including 2017 CAREacter Star Sports Writer of the Year and third place in Best Business Story category of the 2015 Alabama APME contest, and he made contributions to the Jackson County Sentinel as the publication earned awards in the categories of General Excellence and Most Improved in the 2015 Alabama Press Association's Better Newspaper Contest.
