From Hall of Honor press release dated May 14, 1986:

"Ducky" Schroeder, a 1929 graduate, was three-time All-Buckeye COnference and All-Ohio end, and a three-year star pitcher. A former football coach at Newcomerstown and Logan high schools, Mount Union College, and Wittenberg, he was physical director of the Springfield YMCA and the first director of athletics for Springfield City Schools. He was an assistant football coach and head baseball coach at Massillon High School, and for 13 consecutive years the school won the state football title. His babeball teams were twice stae champs. For five years, he was director of the "Big 33" football game played at Hershey, Penn. between best playes in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Schroeder is a member of the Ohio High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame at Kinggs Island. He has been honored by WIttenberg's Varsity "W," the National Federation of High Schools and the National High School Football Coaches Association. The Massillon High School baseball field is named "Carl 'Ducky' Schroeder Field" after the legendary Wittenberg Athelete and High School coach.
