Men’s, Women’s Cross Country Teams Earn All-Academic Accolades From USTFCCCA

SPRINGFIELD — The Wittenberg men's and women's cross country teams earned All-Academic accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2023 season.

Under head coach Paris Hilliard, both the Tiger men and women earned All-Academic Team status. The women boasted a cumulative GPA of 3.64, while the men posted a team GPA of 3.24.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.

Four members of the Wittenberg women's cross country team also earned individual honors as USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes for 2023. Those student-athletes included senior Sydney Khosla (Dayton, Ohio/Centerville), junior Megan Keys (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) and sophomores Emma Hawk (Marion, Ohio/River Valley) and Ella Webster (Van Buren, Ohio/Van Buren).

In order to qualify for Academic All-American distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

Webster, a nursing major, placed sixth of 269 runners at the 2023 Great Lakes Regional Championships and went on to finish 72nd of 293 runners at the NCAA Division III Championships.

Keys, an education major, finished 31st at the regional meet.

Khosla, an education major, placed 35th, and Hawk, a nursing major, was 55th.
