
The Wittenberg men's and women's cross country teams put the finishing touches on the 2012 season with a pair of solid finishes in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship meet, hosted by Anderson University.
The Tiger men claimed 23rd place in the 37-team field, finishing with an even 600 points. The Tiger women placed 24th out of 33 teams with 699 points.
The top individual finish for the Tigers was turned in by junior Molly King (Springfield, Ohio/Northeastern), who covered the 6-kilometer course in a time of 23:08 to place 44th. She was followed by junior Shannon Kelleher (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) in 137th place.
Rounding out the point-scorers for the Tiger women were junior Maggie McIlvain (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) in 177th, senior Chelsey Williams (Fort Wayne, Ind./Canterbury) in 184th and freshman Sarah Webb (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) in 185th.
Leading the charge for the Tiger men was junior Jacob Kuntz (Versailles, Ky./Woodford), who crossed the finish line in a time of 26:48, good for 83rd place. He was followed closely by senior Trevor Grandy (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman), who covered the 8-kilometer course in 26:52 to finish 89th.
The top five for the men also included junior Wade Westbrook (Columbus, Ohio/Whetstone) in 105th, sophomore Adam Kapuscinski (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) in 150th and junior Sean Redfield (Fredonia, NY/St. Francis) in 177th.
