Women's Volleyball Splits Day Two Of MIAA/NCAC Challenge With Win Over No. 6 Hope

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg University Women's Volleyball team picked up with second top 25 win of the weekend at the MIAA/NCAC Challenge as the Tigers split the second day of action, defeating No. 6 Hope College before falling to Albion College in their final match of the weekend. Wittenberg opened the day taking their first match from No. 6 Hope 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 25-18). The Tiger's dropped their final match of the MIAA/NCAC Challenge to the Britons of Albion College, 3-0 (23-25, 19-25, 14-25). With their two top 25 wins and going 2-1 on the weekend, Wittenberg improved to 5-2 on the season. Tyler Linkhart put down double-digit kills in both matches of the final day, leading the Tiger attack with 27 kills. Linkhart posted a .417 hitting percentage in the final match against Albion, putting down 11 of 24 attempts with just one error.

  • Linkhart (16), Katie Hiestand (16) and Kendall Robertson (15) set the tone for the Tiger offense against Hope, putting down double-digit kills.
  • Mack Ricketts tallied 71 assists on day-two of action, putting up 46 assists against Hope. Ricketts added 25 of 31 against Albion.
  • The Wittenberg defense was walled up at the net, recording eight blocks on the weekend from  Ricketts, Linkhart, Hiestand, Robertson and Laney Yoder.

NCAC LEADERS

  • As a team Wittenberg leads the NCAC in hitting percentage at .265 with 330 kills on 856 attempts and 103 errors through 24 sets.
  • The Tigers also top the NCAC in assists per set at 12.88, as Ricketts paces the field with 260 in 24 sets for a 10.83 average.
  • On the defensive side of the ball, the Tigers set the digs standard at 17.83 per set.
  • Wittenberg holds the top two spots in the kills/set average. Linkhart holds the top spot at 4.08 with Hiestand close behind at No. 2 with 3.50. Robertson cracks the top 10, coming in at No. 6 with 3.19 kills per set.
  • Ricketts and Ally White both sit in the top 10 for aces per set.
  • Ava Hampton currently holds down the fourth spot in digs per game at 3.79.

The Tigers will return to action on Tuesday, September 13 at 7:00 pm traveling to Otterbein University for a non-conference showdown against the Cardinals.
