Tigers Overtake Earlham From The Road

Richmond, IN – The Wittenberg Tiger Women's Volleyball team took down the Quakers of Earlham College, 3-1 (23-25, 25-13, 25-13, 25-22). Three Tigers tallied double-digit kills on the evening, led by Tyler Linkhart putting down 16 kills on 37 swings for a .297 hitting percentage. The Wittenberg defense stood strong at the net, providing six blocks with Linkhart, Katie Hiestand and Kendall Robertson providing two apiece. With this win, Wittenberg moves to 3-1 through the early going of non-conference action.

  • Mack Ricketts provided 46 of the 53 Tiger assists on the evening. Ricketts also added a team-leading four service aces.
  • On the floor, the Tiger defense tallied 70 digs with Linkhart (15), Ally White (12), Ava Hampton (11), and Ricketts (10) all collecting double-digit digs for the Wittenberg unit.
  • Through four matches, Linkhart has already put down 53 kills on the season followed close behind by Hiestand with 48.
  • Wittenberg is now 40-4 against the Quakers all-time. The Tigers defeated Earlham 3-0 (30-28, 25-12, 25-11) in their last meeting at the 2021 Wittenberg Fall Classic.
  • The Tigers are 2-1 in 3-set matches and 1-0 in their first four-set test.

Wittenberg will return to action from the MIAA/NCAC Challenge hosted by Hope College in Holland, Mich. Over the course of two-days the Tigers will take on AVCA DIII top 25 and perennial rival, No. 3 Calvin College on Friday, September 9 at 5:00 pm. Wittenberg will return to action on Saturday, September 10, opening No. 6 Hope College at 10:00 am and rounding out the weekend against Albion College at 12:30 pm
