Tigers Sweep Battling Bishops In NCAC Road Opener

Delaware, OH – The Wittenberg women's volleyball team continued North Coast Athletic Conference action on Tuesday night with a trip to Ohio Wesleyan University, defeating the Battling Bishops in straight sets 3-0 [25-18, 25-23, 25-18]. The Tigers put together a .176 hitting percentage on the night with 44 kills coming on 131 total attacks. Hannah Schartz led the Tiger attack, recording 13 kills on 34 swings, adding three blocks. Tyler Linkhart continued her hard-hitting performance, with 10 kills, adding 13 digs and three blocks. Ashley Brooks tallied 23 of the Tigers' 43 assists on the night, with Mack Ricketts contributing 18.

Match Breakdown

Wittenberg slowed the Ohio Wesleyan attack right out of the gate, forcing seven Battling Bishop errors with just nine kills on 38 attacks in the first set. It was a close battle in the second set, with the Tigers pulling away, putting down 17 total kills. Wittenberg had their most efficient set, closing out the Bishops, hitting .216 with 14 kills on 37 total attacks and just six errors. The Tigers held Ohio Wesleyan to just a .108 attacking clip on the night forcing 17 Ohio Wesleyan attacking errors.
