Tigers Take Two From Denison

Springfield, OH – Wittenberg women's volleyball returned to action on Friday evening, hosting the Big Red from Denison University for two matches from Pam Evans Smith Arena. The Tigers took both matches on the night, earning the hard-fought 3-2 (25-19, 25-22, 24-26, 21-25, 16-15) decision in match one to get things started. The Tigers took the clean 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-9) win in match two, securing the sweep.

Match Breakdown

A trio of Tigers tallied double-digit kills for Wittenberg in the five-set match to get the night started. Sidney Reeder led the offensive effort, putting down 16 kills on 40 total attacks with just three errors for a .325 kill percentage. Tyler Linkhart posted a team-high .417 clip, with 12 kills on 24 swings and just two errors. Linkhart added five blocks on the defensive side for the Tigers in the first match. Katie Hiestand finished with 15 kills, adding 11 digs, getting in on two blocks. Nicole Belanger and Dakota White each tallied double-digit digs for the Tigers on the receiving side, as Belanger posted 22 and White tallied 15. Ashley Brooks and Mack Ricketts facilitated the tiger offense with 30 assists coming from Brooks and 24 assists from Ricketts.

Wittenberg cruised to a 3-0 win in match two, led by Sarah Hettich, putting down 12 kills on 18 swings with just for errors for a .444 kill marker, adding eight blocks. Hiestand joined Hettich in the double-digit kill column with 10, adding eight digs to her stat line. Katie Springer put down nine kills on 18 attack attempts, adding four blocks. Ricketts tallied 30 of the Tiger's 36 assists in the second match.
