Women's Volleyball Sweeps DePauw On The Road

Greencastle, IN – The Wittenberg women's volleyball team traveled to NCAC foe DePauw, picking up the win in straight sets 3-0 [25-21, 25-20, 26-24]. The Wittenberg offense logged a .115 attack percentage on the night, putting down 42 kills on 148 total swings with just 25 errors on the night. Katie Hiestand led the Red and White offense with 12 kills on 44 total attacks, adding 16 digs and two blocks. Four Tiger's finished with double-digit digs on the night, including Hiestand, led by senior Taylor Yontz with 17. Lexie Weithman tallied 13 digs with three assists, while Aubrey Cox added 10 digs with five blocks and eight kills, along with an ace.

Match Breakdown

Wittenberg jumped out an early lead over DePauw, taking a quick 16-10 advantage in the first set. The Red and White fended off a late DePauw attack, coming down the stretch as the home team brought the first set to even at 21-21. After the DePauw service error, a service rally by Yontz sealed the first set win for Wittenberg. The Red and White quickly took the led at the start of the second set, holding an 11-5 advantage over DePauw before forcing a home team timeout. Wittenberg continued the attack adding to their lead, going up 15-10, and maintaining their advantage at 22-18 late in the set. Wittenberg fought off one final DePauw attack in the third and final set of the match, taking an early 13-11 lead. The two sides went back and forth, as the Red and White took the final 26-24.
