Tigers Celebrate Senior Day With Win Over Wooster

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg women's volleyball team picked up their fifth straight NCAC win of the season, taking down the Fighting Scots from the College of Wooster on Saturday afternoon. The Red and White completed the sweep of the Scots taking the 3-0 win [25-20, 25-11, 25-14]. Before getting into the action, Wittenberg celebrated the careers of their three seniors, Sarah Auble, Aubrey Coxand Taylor Yontz. During their time in the Red and White, they have accumulated a total record of 85-19 to date. They are a perfect 29-0 in regular-season conference battles.

Match Breakdown

The Wittenberg attack was led by Katie Hiestand, recording 14 kills on 40 swings, adding 15 digs and five blocks. The Tiger attack tallied 40 kills on the day against the Scots, putting together a .176 hitting percentage. Cox led the Red and White with a .421 hitting percentage to end the day, putting down nine kills on 19 swings with just one error.

The two sides battled it out through the early going, as the Scots posted their highest hitting percentage of the match in the first set. Wittenberg held off the Wooster attack in the final two sets, keeping the Scots to a -.089 and -.039 hitting percentages to close out the match. The Red and White cruised to a second set win at 25-11, putting down 12 kills on 38 total attacks with just three errors. Yontz helped keep the Tiger attack moving digging 19 Wooster attacks. Ashley Brooks added 16 assists with Auble added 12 of her own.
