Tigers Sweep Yeowomen

Springfield, OH- The women's volleyball team had a very special match against Oberlin in Pam Evans Arena. The game against the Yeowomen was a Dig Pink game from the Side-Out Foundation which funds research for breast cancer. Wittenberg's own Lexie Weithman has had a personal connection with breast cancer since April when her mother was diagnosed. Sheri Weithman was honored before the game and the Tigers put on a show for her, defeating Oberlin in three sets.

Set One: The Tigers came out of the gates strong with 12 unanswered points. Aubrey Cox led the Tigers in kills for the first set with four while Taylor Yontz and Lexie Weithman each tallied six digs. Wittenberg defeated Oberlin 25-7 in the first set. The Tigers ended the set with a .357 hit percentage, 13 kills, and 28 total attacks on the Yeowomen.

Set Two: Wittenberg's bench was electric as the Tigers continued to score play after play. Wittenberg quickly got to 25, defeating Oberlin 25-16. Tiger's Katie Springer and Aubrey Cox each had three kills adding to Wittenberg's momentum. By the end of the set the Tigers had a total of 45 digs and were even with 28 kills and assists.

Set Three: The Tigers didn't let up on the Yeowomen in the third set, defeating Oberlin 25-13. Aubrey Cox (3 kills) and Katie Hiestand (4 kills) continued to make a statement for the Tigers with help from Freshman Maya Hagander (3 kills). Senior, Sarah Auble was a double threat with two kills and six assists. Senior, Taylor Yontz led the game with 22 digs, adding to her career 1597 digs.

Up Next: The Tigers will be back in Pam Evans Arena on Saturday, October 19th as they celebrate Sarah Auble, Aubrey Cox, and Taylor Yontz in their Senior Day. Action will begin at 1 PM as they take on the Wooster Scots.
