No. 14 Tigers Open Fall Classic With Win Over Wis.-Whitewater

Springfield, OH – The No. 14 Wittenberg University women's volleyball team made their 2019 home debut on Friday evening, taking on the No. 15 Wis.-Whitewater Warhawks on night one of their annual Fall Classic. The Tigers made quick work of their Top 25 opponent picking up the 3-0 win [25-22, 25-16, 25-22]. Wittenberg tallied 36 kills on the night finishing with a .116 attacking percentage. Katie Hiestand led the Tiger attack finishing with 11 kills while adding 13 digs to her total. Aubrey Cox logged a team-high .467 hitting percentage, placing down eight kills on 15 total attacks with just one error.

Match Breakdown

Wittenberg held the Warhawks to a -.044 in the first set, forcing eight Wis.-Whitewater errors on 45 total attacks. The Tigers kept the momentum rolling through the second set, planting 11 kills on 31 total attacks for a .194 kill percentage. The Red & White continued the strong front line defense in the second set, holding the Warhawks to just seven kills and a .000 attack percentage. Wittenberg sealed the match with a .146 attack percentage, logging 13 kills on 48 total attacks.
