#1 Wittenberg Cruises Past Wooster on Senior (Maddie Fischer) Day

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio-- #1 Wittenberg women's volleyball honored their lone senior, Maddie Fischer, on Saturday, before making quick work of the Wooster Fighting Scots. The Tigers senior day festivities were parlayed with a 25-9, 25-13 and 25-15 drubbing of Wooster, propelling the Tigers to 18-0 (7-0), in an all-around dominant performance.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Wittenberg jumped out to a quick 12-3 lead in set number one, including a 9-0, that saw Taylor Brown serve from 2-0 to 9-0. Set number two was closer for the Tigers, as Wooster kept pace with the Tigers to 13-13. Wittenberg would rattle of 12 straight points to win the set 25-13, six of which were attack errors by Wooster. The Tigers would go on to take the third set 25-15, behind a .333 hitting percentage as a team.

WHO STOOD OUT: In a total team effort, Haley Horner led the Tigers with eight kills, while Kennedey Schmidt and Aubrey Cox each chipped in seven. Brown and Taylor Yontz each recorded nine digs, while Karen Wildemann recorded 28 assists in the match. The Tigers held Wooster to a -.011 hitting-percentage, while recording a .306 percentage themselves. Horner rattled off a .429 K%, recording eight kills in 14 attempts, while Cox recorded a .700 K%, earning kills in seven of her ten attempts.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN: Wittenberg improves to 38-3 all-time against the Fighting Scots, as the Tigers are now 7-0 in NCAC play. Wittenberg remains undefeated on the year, holding on to their #1 ranking in the AVCA Coaches' Poll. The Tigers conclude NCAC regular season play on Wednesday, October 25 with a 7:00PM road match at Kenyon College. The Tiger's then travel to the Chicago-land area for the Benedictine tournament, taking on the likes of Elmhurst, Carthage, and Wisconsin Eau-Claire.
