SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Wittenberg volleyball team put the finishing touches on a perfect weekend with a 3-0 non-conference victory over Marietta.

The third-ranked Tigers played nearly flawlessly against the Pioneers, who dropped to 16-10 on the 2012 season after splitting a tri-match with Wittenberg and Allegheny. Wittenberg beat North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rivals Hiram and Allegheny to wrap up the regular season title and then Marietta without dropping a set in a span of less than 24 hours.

In the first meeting between Wittenberg and Marietta since 1995, the Tigers attacked at a .351 clip, pounding 48 kills compared to just nine errors in 111 attempts. Leading the way was junior Andrea Behling (Columbus, Ind./North), who recorded 14 kills in 21 attempts for a sparkling .619 attack percentage as the Tigers posted set scores of 25-18, 25-18, 25-9.

Freshman Kara Seidenstricker (London, Ohio/Jonathan Alder) was just as dangerous attacking from the outside, finishing with 11 kills without an error on 26 swings for a .423 attack percentage. The setting tandem of senior Hallie Donathan (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) and sophomore Meghan Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Perry) accounted for 21 and 17 assists, respectively, while the Tiger defense was stellar as usual, led by senior Christina Gilene (Milford, Ohio/McNicholas) with 16 digs and Seidenstricker with 13.
