Tigers Roll Past NCAC Rival Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers continued to roll through their 2011 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) schedule, racing past host Kenyon, 3-0.

Wittenberg reached the 20-win plateau for the 20th straight year with the win, improving to 20-2 overall and 9-0 in the NCAC. Kenyon, which hasn't defeated Wittenberg since 1990, is now 10-13 overall and 4-5 in the league.

The Tigers won the match by set scores of 25-16, 25-5, 25-14. After hitting .212 in the opening set, Wittenberg's offense really began to click, registering a .484 attack percentage with zero errors in the second set and .419 in the third frame.

The offense was paced by senior Hannah Riley (Minerva, Ohio/Minerva) with 10 kills and a robust .500 attack percentage. Senior Kimmie Dyer (Copley, Ohio/Copley) added eight kills and 12 digs, which matched junior Christina Gilene (Milford, Ohio/McNicholas) for team honors.

Freshman Meghan Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Perry) led with 19 assists. Also of note was the play of senior Miranda Sagle (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee), who chipped in with five kills on just seven swings and led both teams with six blocks.
