CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers picked right up where they left off a week earlier, cruising past host Mount St. Joseph, 3-0, on the first day of the Charlie Wrublewski Tournament.
The win moved the Tigers to 4-0 on the young season, heading into a busy second day of the competition. Wittenberg will take on nationally ranked Heidelberg and Thomas More in a pair of key Great Lakes Region matches.
The Tigers picked up seven kills in just 14 attempts from senior Catherine Farny (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran), who attacked from her right-side spot at a .500 clip.
Defensively, senior Katie Sumner (Dublin, Ohio/Watterson) led at the net with four blocks, while junior libero Christina Gilene (Milford, Ohio/McNicholas) added 15 digs patrolling the back court.
