SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The fourth-ranked Wittenberg Tigers took care of business Thursday, taking the measure of visiting North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Ohio Wesleyan, 3-0.
By set scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-15, the Tigers improved to 14-2 overall and 4-1 in the NCAC, heading into a weekend road trip to Oberlin. The Battling Bishops, who haven't beaten Wittenberg since 1996 and now have lost 36 of the 41 matches between the two programs, fell to 2-15 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
The Tigers were paced offensively by junior Miranda Sagle (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee), who pounded nine kills on 16 attempts for a .438 attack percentage, and junior Hillary Monnin (Russia, Ohio/Russia), who finished with eight kills on 19 attempts for a .368 attack percentage. Senior Amy Cox (Newark, Ohio/Catholic) and sophomore Hallie Donathan (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) split the setting duties, and each finished with 17 assists.
Monnin led the defense with 11 digs and 16 reception attempts without an error. Freshman Andrea Behling (Columbus, Ind./North) was tops in blocks with one solo and four assists.
