Tigers Open Long Weekend With Win At Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa.- The Wittenberg volleyball team continues to plow through North Coast Athletic Conference competition, dropping Allegheny by a 3-0 mark Friday night to move to 11-3 overall and 7-0 in league action, all in straight sets.

The Tigers made quick work of the Gators, winning by scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-15 getting a long weekend off to a fast start. The team continues the road swing Saturday with two road conference matches in two different places, first at Hiram at 1 p.m. and later at Oberlin beginning at 7 p.m.

Leading the Tigers from the service line and in the attack was sophomore hitter Kimmie Dyer (Copley, Ohio/Copley) with three aces and a match-high nine kills. Senior hitter Kate Snead (Westerville, Ohio/South) followed with eight kills with no errors in 18 attempts, good for a .444 hitting percentage. Snead also contributed six blocks to the effort.

Freshman Christina Gilene (Milford, Ohio/McNicholas) paced the Tigers defensively, tallying 19 digs before the night was through.

After this weekend, the Tigers' road matches continue with another five away matches between Wednesday, Oct. 14 and Sunday, Oct. 18, before returning home for the team's final regular season home contest on Wednesday, Oct. 21, when they face Earlham at 7 p.m.
