Wittenberg Sweeps Past Ohio Wesleyan, 3-0

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers headed back into North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action Wednesday and took care of business in familiar fashion, beating Ohio Wesleyan, 3-0.

Eighth-ranked Wittenberg, which has not lost to the Battling Bishops since 1996, moved to 12-2 on the season, while Ohio Wesleyan is now 1-12. The match served as a tune-up for a busy weekend that includes NCAC matches against Oberlin on Friday and Wooster on Saturday and a non-conference showdown with dangerous Mount Union, also on Saturday. All of the matches are scheduled to be played at Springfield High School.

Offensively, the Tigers were paced by seven kills from junior middle hitter Kate Snead (Westerville, Ohio/South) and six kills and a .667 attack percentage from senior right-side hitter Jackie Williams (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat). Junior setter Erin Slattery (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) dished out 26 assists.

In addition, freshman middle hitter Katie Sumner (Dublin, Ohio/Watterson)finished with two blocks and three aces, and senior libero Laura Fender (Toledo, Ohio/St. Ursula) checked in with 10 digs.
