Wittenberg Sweep Oneonta State

HAYWARD, Calif. - The Wittenberg Tigers appear to be the unstoppable force this weekend at the Pioneer Wild West Tournament, hosted by nationally ranked California State-East Bay. For the third straight time, the Tigers swept three straight games, this time taking the measure of Oneonta State as the kiddie corps took center stage.

The Tigers, who moved to 21-4 overall on the season, are now a perfect 3-0 in the Pioneer Wild West Tournament, heading into Saturday's finale against Greensboro at 5 p.m. (PST). On Friday, Wittenberg easily defeated Coe and Cal State-East Bay.

Freshman middle hitter Brittany Steinbrecher and freshman outside hitter Jackie Williams each posted seven kills to lead the Tigers, while sophomore outside hitter Lindsey Penrod added six kills, freshman middle hitter Jessica Kimble chipped in with five kills and freshman outside hitter Searra Schell rounded things out with four kills. Freshman libero Laura Fender had an outstanding match, contributing six aces and 14 digs, while freshman outside hitter Kathleen Graham added two aces.
