Wittenberg Sweeps Kenyon, 3-0

GAMBIER, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers had no trouble on Tuesday night, sweeping to a 3-0 victory over Kenyon in North Coast Athletic Conference regular season action.

The Tigers improved to 16-3 overall and 4-0 in the NCAC action, halfway home to a ninth straight regular season title. Wittenberg has a stern challenge ahead this weekend, however, as Hiram, the runner-up each of the last two years, hosts Wittenberg on Friday before a trip to Allegheny on Saturday puts a wrap on a busy weekend.

Sophomore setters Ashley Anderson and Sarah Matesich were equally solid in the win over Kenyon, contributing 16 and 19 assists respectively. They chose the middle hitters for the largest number of kill opportunities, and sophomore Caitlin Augustus and senior Emily Dixon obliged, knocking down a combined 16 kills. Defensively, the Tigers recorded a whopping 11 team blocks in the relatively short three-game match (scores were 30-14, 30-13, 30-24). Sophomore outside hitters Emily Bell and Jan Kehres and Augustus shared the team lead with four each, including a solo for Augustus.
