Women's Track and Field wins second straight NCAC Outdoor Championships title

GRANVILLE — The Wittenberg women's track and field team won its second straight North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships title at Denison on Saturday. The Tigers swept the track and field conference championships this season, as they also won the 2024 indoor title. The Tiger coaching staff of head coach Paris Hilliard and assistants Alexia Page-Boyd, Blaine Brokschmidt, Chris Marco and Josh Lynch was named the NCAC Coaching Staff of the Year.

The Basics

  • Venue: Piper Stadium - Granville, Ohio
  • Wittenberg scored 192.5 points and won the team championship by 8.5 points over second-place DePauw with 184 points. Ohio Wesleyan was third in the eight-team field with 112 points. Wittenberg entered Saturday with 86.5 points, holding a 20.5-point lead over second-place DePauw.
  • Wittenberg won its second consecutive NCAC outdoor championship after winning the title for the first time in program history in 2023.
  • The top three finishers in each event earn All-NCAC honors, and the top eight finishers score team points.

Wittenberg's Top Performers

  • The team of juniors Zora Shakhan (Pickerington, Ohio/Central), Meghan Frazier (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance), Lindsey Magoteaux (Sidney, Ohio/Lehman Catholic) and Haleigh Willison (Crooksville, Ohio/Crooksville) was the champion in the 4x100 relay in 47.84 seconds.
  • The Tigers posted seven additional All-Conference finishes.
  • Frazier and Willison placed second and third, respectively, in the 100 in 12.28 seconds and 12.60 seconds.
  • Frazier also posted a second-place finish in the 200 in 29.94 seconds.
  • Junior Megan Keys (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) and sophomore Emma Hawk (Marion, Ohio/River Valley) placed second and third, respectively, in the 5,000 in 18:11.00 and 18:11.80.
  • Sophomore Tiffany Hix (Prospect, Ohio/Elgin) was second in the triple jump with a mark of 11.20 meters.
  • The team of sophomores Abbey Danne (Johnstown, Ohio/Big Walnut) and Tymeerah De'Armond (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield), freshman DeYanna Champion (Dayton, Ohio/Early College Academy) and junior Victoria Pipinich (Fort Worth, Texas/All Saints Episcopal) placed third in 4x400 relay in 4:02.52.
  • The Tigers recorded 15 additional top-eight finishes on the day.
  • Sophomore Aidan Orth (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) was fourth in the shot put with a mark of 12.26 meters and was fifth in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.83 meters.
  • In the 400, De'Armond was fourth in 59.74 seconds, Danne was fifth in 59.85 seconds, freshman Hallie Haines (Hillsboro, Ohio/Fairfield) was seventh in 1:00.64, and sophomore Delaney Tackett (Waverly, Ohio/Waverly) was eighth in 1:01.13.
  • Shakhan and Magoteaux were fourth and eighth, respectively, in the 100 in 12.64 seconds and 12.97 seconds.
  • Willison was fifth in the 200 in 25.63 seconds.
  • Junior Reese Neumeyer (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.70, sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.94 seconds and seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 10.23 meters.
  • Junior Taylor Weiss (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) was fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.43 meters.
  • Sophomore Emma Doerman (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) was eighth in the shot put with a mark of 11.15 meters, and freshman Haley Troy (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) was eighth in the 400 hurdles in 1:09.41.
