Wittenberg Track & Field Begins Indoor Season With Tiger Opener

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Track & Field program began their indoor season on Saturday, hosting the 2022 Tiger Opener. The Tigers took multiple event wins and set new program records to begin the indoor season.

Justin Norris took the top spot in the men's high jump, clearing the bar at 1.89 meters. JJ Weisenberger claimed a first-place finish in the long jump competition, with a leap of 6.66 meters. Jack Houck made his way into the top three in the long jump, earning a third-place finish with a leap of 6.44 meters. On the track, Ian McCandlish won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.16. Riley Payne took fourth-place in the 60-meter hurdles. Dak Smith claimed a third-place finish in the men's mile run, stopping the clock in a time of 4:30.23. Zeke Bennett earned a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 50.01.

Corin Turkovich comes off an NCAC Championship Cross Country season, with an appearance at the NCAA DIII Championships. Turkovich set a new Wittenberg indoor 5000-meter record, taking second-place in a time of 17:38.65. Sydney Khosla set a new indoor one mile record, posting a time of 5:09.03 for a fourth-place finish. Wittenberg finished back-to-back in the 400 meter dash, taking the third and fourth spot, as Tymeerah De'Armond crossed in a time of 59.95 and Delaney Tackett stopped the clock in a time of 1:01.19. Tiger newcomer, Tiffany Hix claimed a fourth-place finish in pole vault in her first collegiate meet, clearing a height of 3.00 meters. Taylor Weiss earned a third-place finish in the triple jump, completing a jump of 10.55 meters. Aidan Orth posted a second-place finish in the shot put competition with a heave of 12.10 meters.
