Plikerd Finishes Fourth In All-Ohio Combined

Granville, OH- Zachary Guyer and Stevie Plikerd competed in the All-Ohio Combined for the Heptathlon (Guyer) and Pentathalon (Plikerd). Day one consisted of four events, including the 60m, long jump, shot put, and high jump for the men. The women had four events in day one starting with the 60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, and long jump. Day two for the women only consisted of the 800 m while the men had three events including 60m hurdles, pole vault and 1000m. Guyer finished the weekend with a second place finish out of five while Plikerd picked up a fourth place finish out of seven.

Plikerd got off to a slow start in day one against tough competition with a seventh place finish in the 60 m hurdles with a time of 10.38 followed by an eighth place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.43m. Plikerd came back in the third event to pick up a first place finish in the shot put, throwing for 11.16m, 1.58m more than her second place competitor. Stevie picked up another first place finish in the last event of the day with a distance of 5.31m in the long jump. Day two gave Plikerd a fourth place finish in the 800m and time of 2:42.23, beating out eight competitors.

Guyer picked up two second place finishes, a third place finish and fourth place finish in day one of competition. Zachary started day one with a second place finish in the 60m Heptathlon with a final time of 7.45 followed by a fourth place finish in the long jump and a distance of 5.70m.  Guyer came back in the third event to take another second place finish in the shot put, throwing for 11.53m. In the last event of the day Guyer snagged third place in the high jump with a height of 1.69m.

Day two consisted of three more events and started off promising for the junior who placed first in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.88. In the second event of the day, Guyer picked up another second place finish with a height of 3.35m in the pole vault. The last event of the day was the 1000 m which put Guyer in fourth place with a time of 3:04.11. Guyer finished second overall out of five competitors.

Up Next: The duo will be back competing with the rest of the Tigers in the All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein University on Saturday, February 15th.
