Track Hosts Second Ever Meet In Steemer

Springfield, OH- Wittenberg hosted the annual Coach Rob Invitational, only the second meet to be held in the Steemer. The women had a day full of top finishes, placing second as a team only behind Mount Union with a combined score of 100. The men placed third as a team, behind the No. 3 Mount Union and No. 31 Wabash. The Tigers were able to pick up 84 points on the men's side to beat out five teams.

The Women: Hannah Eley got things started for the Tigers with a fourth-place finish and distance of 14.19m (46-06.75) in the women's weight throw. Taylor Barnhisel picked up another fourth-place finish in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.45m (4-09.00). The ladies captured their first one-two finish of the day in the shot put; Skylar Edwards threw for 11.57m (37-11.50) for a first-place finish. Leah Vogt threw for 11.39m (37-04.50) for a second-place finish in the shot put competition. Elizabeth Canright picked up points for the Tigers in the 5K with a 3rd place finish and time of 19:57.25. Ryelee Clary took home fourth place with a time of 9.48, followed closely by Tiffany Moss in fifth and time of 10.28 in the 60-meter hurdles. Taylor Barnhisel finished in fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.94. Alexis Walker picked up a first-place finish and set a new facility record of 25.76 in the women's 200-meter dash to end the night. With a time of 25.76, Walker now sits at 19th in NCAA DIII and would currently qualify for nationals. Junior Marteana Newton, followed close behind in the 200-meter dash with a fourth-place finish and time of 26.93.

The Men: Johnathan Seay picked up a fifth-place finish in the men's weight throw with a distance of 14.78m (48-06.00). Jaycee Perry picked up the first second-place finish for the Tigers with a height of 1.90m (6-02.75) in the high jump. Grant Shepardson was able to pick up the next first-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.51m (21-04.25), followed by Zachary Guyer taking fifth with a distance of 6.31m (20-08.50). Ryan Zimmerman picked up a fourth-place finish for Wittenberg, finishing with a time of 15:55.03 in the 5K. Austyn Albanese picked up points for Wittenberg in the 400-meter dash, finishing in third and time of 51.16. Deven Ramsey picked up a first-place finish in the men's 800-meter with a time of 1:58.32, just shy of the facility record of 1:57.06 that Ramsey holds. A 4x400 relay team composed of Ezekiel Bennett, Austyn Albanese, Deven Ramsey, and David Haake closed out the night for the Tigers and grabbed a second-place finish and time of 3:24.47.

Up Next: Wittenberg will be on the road in Ada, OH on Saturday, February 1st. The Tigers will be competing in the Joe Banks Invitational with field events beginning at 11:00 AM.
