Track and Field Programs finish 9th and 11th at Capital Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio-- Wittenberg men's and women's track programs traveled up interstate 70 Saturday morning to compete at the Rick Meindl Meet, hosted by Capital University. The field of teams competing was very deep, but the Tigers held their own and impressed out of the 19 programs present. The men's team produced four finishes in the top six, while the women's team produced five. Wittenberg's women finished 9th on the day, while the men finished 11th out of the field of 19.

 

MEN'S TOP 6's

  • Aaron Melsop (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) took home the Tiger's lone first place finish on the day, as the senior came out on top in the long jump with a distance of 6.90 meters.
  • Laike Wallace (Washington Courthouse, Ohio/Washington Courthouse) took home a second place finish in the 60 meter-hurdles at 8.65 second, and also added a fourth place finish in the 400 meter-dash with a finals time of 51.24 seconds.
  • Rounding out the Tigers day from the men's side was Cody Shutt (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson), who finished right behind Wallace in the 400 meter-dash in fifth, with a time of 51.60.

WOMEN'S TOP 6's

  • Brea Medlock (Galena, Ohio/Big Walnut) continued to build of her recent successes in 2016 as the senior finished third in the 200 meter-run at 26.13 seconds, and fourth in the 60 meter-dash at 7.93 seconds.
  • Frankie Bowsher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) also scored for the Tigers, coming in fourth place in the 400 meter-dash with a finals time of 1:02.97.
  • Also continuing to boost her solid 2016 campaign was Jordan Crow (North Las Vegas, Nevada/Palo Verde), who claimed a fourth place finish in the 60 meter-hurdles at 9.40 seconds.
  • Rounding out the Tigers day from the women's side was Becah Delp (York, Pennsylvania/Eastern York) and her fifth place finish in the long-jump at 5.12 meters.

UP NEXT

  •  Both Tiger programs return to action February 26th at the NCAC Multi Championships (Ohio Wesleyan).
