Tigers Excel at Ohio Northern's Joe Banks Invitational

ADA, Ohio - Wittenberg's men's and women's track and field continued to make progress with a pair of fifth-place finishes in Ohio Northern's Joe Banks Invitational.

The host Polar Bears won both competitions. On the men's side, Ohio Northern scored 163 points, followed by Rose-Hulman with 131.5, Otterbein with 87.5, Cedarville with 79 and Wittenberg with 57. The women's competition started with Ohio Northern with 155 points, followed by Otterbein with 139, Cedarville with 120, Heidelberg with 64 and Wittenberg with 40.

The individual highlight was provided by junior Justin Fisher (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll). He won the triple jump competition with a school record leap of 45-feet, 11.25 inches.

Fisher was one of three men to take the top spot in an individual event. He was joined in the winner's circle by senior Justin Yates (Dayton, Ohio/Bellbrook) in the 400-meter dash and senior Victor Banjo (Sugarland, Texas/Stephen F. Austin) in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.

Also scoring for the men was junior Aaron Melsop (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) with fourth place in the triple jump and third in the long jump. Melsop, Fisher, freshman David Jackson (College Park, Ga./Westwood) and sophomore Cody Shutt (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) teamed up to finish fourth in the 4x200-meter relay.

The leading scorers for the Tiger women were junior Brea Medlock (Galena, Ohio/Big Walnut), who finished second in the 200-meter dash, sophomore Frankie Bowsher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln), who placed fifth in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dash, sophomore Alaina Longshore (Columbus, Ohio/Franklin Heights), who took third in the 400-meter dash, junior Lorin Conti (Milford, Ohio/Milford), who crossed the line sixth in the 3000-meter run, junior Becah Delp (York, Pa./Eastern York), who placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles, and sophomore Erin Hord (Madison, Ohio/Madison), who finished fourth in the 5000-meter run.

In addition, freshman Jada Moore (Columbus, Ohio/South), senior Jeanette Klamfoth (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley), freshman Kelsey Fobean (Munroe Falls, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) and sophomore Odunayo Shobo (Columbus, Ohio/Westland) wound up fourth in the 4x200-meter relay.
