
ATLANTA, Ga. – The Wittenberg track and field teams posted a strong opening to the outdoor season with 11th and 13th-place finishes for the women and the men, respectively.
Sophomore Laike Wallace (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) ran to a personal record and first-place honors in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.64 seconds. Wallace also finished sixth in the finals of the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.86.
Sophomore Aaron Melsop (Westerville, Ohio/DeSales) also represented the men well with a third-place finish in the long jump thanks to a distance of 6.81 meters. He went on to post an eighth-place finish in the triple jump.
In the lanes, junior Justin Yates (Dayton, Ohio/Bellbrook) secured sixth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.76 seconds, and freshman Jon Osman (Troy, Ohio/Troy) was 12th in the 10,000-meter run.
For the women, sophomore Brea Medlock (Galena, Ohio/Big Walnut) finished eighth in the 400-meter dash and freshman Lorin Conti (Milford, Ohio/Milford) posted a fifth-place finish in the 10,000-meter run, leading up to the banner third-place finish of junior Shelby Kaho (Sugar Grove, Ohio/Berne Union) in the 100-meter hurdles, turning in a time of 15.16 seconds.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Frankie Bowsher (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln), Medlock, freshman Aliyah Myers (McCordsville, Ind./Mt. Vernon) and freshman Alaina Longshore (Columbus, Ohio/Franklin Heights) brought home a second-place result thanks to a time of 3:59.20.
In field events, sophomore Becah Delp (York, Pa./Eastern York) leapt to seventh place in the long jump, thanks a distance of 5.17 meters, while senior Beverly Ochieng (Bexley, Ohio/Bexley) placed sixth in the triple jump at 11.21 meters, a personal record.
The Tigers next head to Cedarville University for the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open on Saturday, March 29.
