Tigers Impressive At All-Ohio Invitational

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Wittenberg track and field teams turned in impressive finishes in the All-Ohio Invitational held on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday, the women turning in a 10th-place finish among 19 teams, just one half point off ninth place, and the men finished tied for 15th.

The 10,000-meter run was a strong event for both the men and the women. Sophomore Mary Pfeifer (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) won the event on the women's side with a school record time of 38:10.58, while junior Kevin Frick (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview) took third in the men's race with a time of 32:20.23. Both Pfeifer and Frick also compete with the Tiger cross country teams.

Sophomore Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) finished third in the 1,500-meter run with a final time of 4:46.50 to round out a strong day for the women's distance events. Freshman Whitney Goller (Findlay, Ohio/Liberty Benton) finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and juniorKaren Bellanca (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) took sixth in the javelin throw.

Other notable finishes for the men included freshman David Kolakowski (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River) taking seventh in the pole vault and freshman Josh Colbert's (Urbana, Ohio/Urbana) eighth-place long jump.

The men and women next compete in the Big Red Invitational at Denison University on Friday, April 23.
