Colbert Finishes 14th In Long Jump At NCAA Championships

GREENCASTLE, Ind. — At the NCAA Division III National Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Wittenberg track and field teams were represented by freshman Josh Colbert (Urbana, Ohio/Urbana) in the long jump, and he wore the Red & White well.

In the national championships, Colbert posted an impressive finish of 14th with a distance of 21 feet, 4 1/4 inches. With his participation in the national meet, Colbert became the first Tiger men's indoor track and field athlete to receive an invitation since Skip Ivery ran in the 55-meter hurdles in 2004.

Colbert qualified for the meet after posting the top distance in the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, winning by more than eight inches and setting a new personal best in the process.

The Tiger track and field teams now prepare for the outdoor season, which begins in short order with the Rhodes Invitational in Memphis, Tenn., Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 20.
