WESTERVILLE, Ohio- With one final weekend to prepare for the NCAC Indoor Championships, Wittenberg's men's and women's teams tuned up with some strong performances at Otterbein. Four individual victories on the men's side and two for the women highlighted the efforts for the Tigers in the unscored meet.
Showing strength in the middle-distance, the Tiger men earned wins from a pair of freshmen in the 500 dash and 1 mile run. Ryan Hagen (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island)edged the field in the 500 dash in a time of 1:10.38 while Kyler Cowgill (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington)pulled away late in the mile to win with a time of 4:43.54. The Tiger men also earned wins in the 55 hurdles, the 1,000 meter run and the 4 x 400 relay.
For the women, junior Laura Schumaker (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) rolled in the 55 hurdles in a time of 9.24 to join freshman Darcy Dubuc (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) in the win column. Dubuc claimed the 1,000 run in a time of 3:13.43.
With their final tune-up in the rearview mirror, the Tigers shift their focus to the NCAC Championships coming up on March 6-7 from Denison University. The men look to improve on a 7th place finish from last year's meet while the women head into the meet after a 4th place mark last winter.
