DELAWARE, Ohio — The Wittenberg track and field teams may not have torn up the track as a team at the All-Ohio Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan this weekend, but several individual performances were nothing short of impressive, facing off against a majority of the NCAA Division III schools located in Ohio. The men finished in a tie with the College of Wooster for 14th of 20, while the women finished 15th of 19.
Leading the charge was sophomore standout Mat Guida (LaGrange, Ky./Oldham County), who topped the field in the men's discus, with a throw of 154 feet. Also finishing strong for the men was sophomore Adam Roberts (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee). He placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles.
For the women, the strongest performances were delivered by junior Katie Shoemaker (Arcanum, Ohio/Franklin Monroe) and senior Allison Walker (Columbus, Ohio/Academy). Shoemaker took the bronze in the 400-meter dash, while Walker matched her with a third-place finish in the hammer throw.
Next up for the Tigers is a trip to Wilmington on April 19th.
