ORLANDO, FL – Wittenberg Women's Tennis wrapped up Spring Break 2025 with three matches over the course of two days on Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14. The Tigers were defeated 5-2 by Central (Iowa) on Thursday morning and 5-2 by Northwestern (Minnesota) on Thursday evening, and then concluded the trip with a loss to NCAA Division II scholarship program Ave Maria in a mid- morning match at USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida on Friday.
While the Tigers dropped to 0-7 as a team on the 2024-25 season, there were individual bright spots in these matches, starting once again with senior Caroline Sproule (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy Orange). Sproule won a three-setter against Central and in straight sets against Northwestern before dropping a tight match in a super-tiebreaker against Ave Maria to run her season record to 7-6. And in doubles, Sproule paired with senior Sidney Purks (Oakwood, OH / Oakwood) to win doubles matches against Central and Northwestern before losing to Ave Maria.
Purks had Wittenberg's only other individual victory over the two days as she picked up a three-set win against Northwestern at No. 2 singles.
