Tigers Leave Oberlin In Their Wake In Home Dual

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Wittenberg men's and women's swimming & diving teams won the first six events and 22 of 32 overall to take home victories on each side against Oberlin on Saturday.

The men improved to 5-2 with their 190-107 win, while the women moved to 6-1 in dual meets with their 173-121 triumph. A total of 10 individuals finished in first place in multiple events.

Women's freshman Dani Lacy (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Collegiate School) and men's sophomore A.J. Burt (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) each put together quite a meet with four first-place finishes. Lacy counted the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay among her wins, while Burt finished atop the 200 medley relay, 1000 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 500 freestyle.

Lacy was joined in the 200 medley relay by junior Molly Gustafson (West Hartford, Conn./Conard), senior Jane Tsivitse (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) and junior Sarah Wilson (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe). Gustafson also took first in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events while Tsivitse additionally claimed the 100 butterfly and 400 free relay, where she was joined by Lacy, senior Ward McNulty (Glencoe, Ill./New Trier) and freshman Margaret White (Westfield, Ind./Westfield).

McNulty and White both took home an additional individual victory, McNulty in the 50 freestyle and White in the 500 freestyle, while senior Claire Shannon (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) won the 1000 freestyle.

On the men's side, Burt's winning 200 medley relay team also included senior Andrew Koukis (Delaware, Ohio/Hayes), sophomore James Dumstorf (Louisville, Ky/St. Xavier) and sophomore Jared Crum (Galveston, Ind./Lewis Cass). Dumstorf went on to claim the 200 butterfly and 200 breaststroke, while Crum won the 100 freestyle and helped the 400 freestyle relay team to victory.

Crum was joined in the 400 freestyle relay effort by senior J.B. Easley (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seven Hills), sophomore Cameron Mackintosh (Lusaka, Zambia/American International) and senior Brendan Eggers (Rye, N.Y./Rye). Freshman Chase Honeycutt (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany ) won both the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly, while freshman Stephen Stuthers (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) rounded out the first-place finishes in the 200 individual medley.

The Tigers will enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday before returning to competition at the DePauw/Rose-Hulman Invitational on Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1. DePauw University will host the swimming portion in Greencastle, Ind., and Rose-Hulman the diving events in Terre Haute, Ind.
