Wittenberg Splits With Wooster In First Home Meet Of Season

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg women's swimming and diving team continued a strong start to the season, and the men put up a great fight against the visiting Wooster crews. The men lost by a score of 100-139, but the women were able to defeat the Fighting Scots by a margin of 135-106.

Highlighting the day were 14 first places finishes in a variety of events. Wooster started off winning both 200-yard medleys, but Kaitlin Clark (Wakeman, Ohio/Firelands) dominated in the Tigers' first winning event, the 1000-yard freestyle, finishing 20.7 seconds ahead of the next closest swimmer. She also took first in the 500-yard freestyle. Adeline Brym (Mansfield, Ohio/Lexington) posted three first place finishes, including the women's 100- and 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley, earning 27 points for the team.

Janna House (St. Thomas, Ontario/Central Elgin Collegiate Institute) also had a good meet, finishing first in the 100-yard butterfly, and serving as the lead leg in the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team.

The Wittenberg men received two first place finishes from Neil Anderson (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood), who was first to the deck in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle races, while Brian Harris (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) took first place in the 100-free. Harris was also on the second-place 200-yard freestyle relay team, posting the best leg time of his teammates.

In the deep end of the pool, Matt Erenpreiss (Columbus, Ohio/Centennial) took home the top spot in diving, while the women were represented best by Megan Shubitowski (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson), who finished just a slim 12.35 points behind Wooster's female diver Caitlin McNulty.

The Tiger teams will travel to Ohio Wesleyan on Friday, Nov. 2 for their second dual meet of the season, first away from the friendly confines of the H.P.E.R. Center Natatorium.
