Women's Soccer Falls To John Carroll Under The Lights

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Women's Soccer team suffered a tough 2-1 loss against the Blue Streaks from John Carroll University under the lights of Edwards-Maurer Field. The offensive pressure of Wittenberg, persistent throughout the match saw the Tigers tally 27 shots to the Blue Streaks six. Wittenberg was able to strike first, finding the back of the net was Hannah Heald in the fourth-minute, capitalizing on the assist from Brooke Peters. John Carroll countered with an attack of their own, putting pressure on the Wittenberg defense and equalizing the game at 1-1 at 10:35 into the first half. Adding their second and final goal of the evening at the 20-minute mark, John Carroll would pack in the defense for the remainder.

  • Heald tallied her first goal of the 2022 campaign. Heald comes off a 2021 season where she notched six goals and five assists with one game-winner, on her way to earning All-NCAC honors.
  • Peters tallied her first assist of the season. Peters now has six career-assists and seven career-goals for Wittenberg. As a two-time All-NCAC honoree so far, Peters was named to the second-team in 2019 and first team in 2021.
  • Badin Clark made her third career start in goal for the Tigers. Clark made one save against three shots on goal.

Wittenberg will return to action on Friday, September 9, traveling to No. 15 Carnegie Mellon University for a 7:30 pm match-up. Wittenberg will return home to Edwards-Maurer Field on Sunday, September 18, hosting the Panthers from Hanover College at 2:00 pm.
