Granville, Ohio – The Wittenberg University Women's Lacrosse team hit the road on Tuesday afternoon and the Tigers found themselves on the wrong end of a 25-6 decision in NCAC play against Denison. The loss drops the Tigers' overall record to 6-8 on the year, with their NCAC marking now sitting at 2-4 and just outside the top-four in the league standings.

Game Breakdown

While the Big Red struck for two early goals within the first 1:30 of action, senior Emily Wadds evened the score at 2-2 with back-to-back goals at the 23:16 and 22:56 marks of the first half. However, DU scored the next seven goals of the game to jump back on top, 9-2, before junior Rachel Bernard snapped Wittenberg's scoreless skid with an unassisted goal at the 14:41 mark to make the score 9-3. Denison then went on to outscore the Tigers, 7-1, in the final 14 minutes of the first half to take a 16-4 lead at the break. Bernard also scored the fourth Wittenberg goal of the first half off an assist from sophomore Josee Clayton.

Denison stretched its lead out even further to open the second by scoring seven-straight goals, ultimately leading to the 25-6 win over the Tigers. Wadds did add two more goals in the second half to post her fifth-straight hat trick performance with four total goals in the match.

The Tigers will return to action this Saturday for a 12:00 p.m. home game against Allegheny, before closing out the regular season the next Saturday (4/27) with a 3:00 p.m. road match at Hiram.
