Wittenberg Falls At Ohio Wesleyan, 16-7

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers' frustrations in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action continued Wednesday as the host Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops defended their turf with a 16-7 victory.

The loss extended a long conference losing streak, including three straight in the 2008 season. Overall, Wittenberg stands at 3-5 in 2008, including a mark of 0-3 in conference play. Ohio Wesleyan, the defending NCAC champion, improved to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the NCAC.

For the second time in three 2008 NCAC outings, a slow start proved to be too much for the Tigers to overcome. This time, the deficit was 10-3, and the Battling Bishops cruised from that point, winning the final 30 minutes by a 6-4 margin.

The Tiger offense was led by senior Amber Cupples (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster), who scored three goals. Freshman Jordan Beauchamp (Noblesville, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) added one goal and one assist.

Sophomore Andrea Berry (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) and juniorLizzie Amorello (Worcester, Mass./Sutton Academy) led in ground balls with three apiece. Sophomore goalkeeper Bonnie Kenney (Lutherville, Md./Park School) added seven saves.
