Wittenberg University Vice President and Director of Athletics and Recreation Brian Agler '80 welcomes home David Wetterich as the next Head Coach of the men's and women's golf programs for the 2022-23 season.

"We are extremely excited to bring back David to Wittenberg to lead our very successful golf program." said Agler, "David was a standout competitor here and throughout the interview process, he showed his passion for the program and the University. I'm confident he will work tirelessly to make and keep both our Women's and Men's teams competitive at the national level, but more importantly, help give our student-athletes a tremendous experience."

Since graduating, Wetterich has spent time pursuing a career as a touring professional. Competing on PGA Tour Canada and various mini-tours throughout the country. Wetterich has also spent time as a caddie at Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, Florida, recording over 200 loops over the span of two winters.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of the University as golf coach and excited to be back in Springfield." said Wetterich, "Coach Laszlo has done a great job with both the men's team and women's team and I look forward to continuing the progress. I've heard great things about both teams and their potential - I'm looking forward to seeing where that leads us!"

Since 2019, Wetterich has served as the host and Tournament Coordinator of the Clovernook Open,  54-hole stroke play professional golf tournament and pro-am, hosted at Clovernook Country Club in Cincinnati, OH. During the week of the event, the tournament hosts a clinic for the First Tee of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky

While at Wittenberg, Wetterich was a member of four consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference Championship teams. In 2012 he earned Second Team, All-America honors. At the NCAA Tournament, Wetterich carded a team-best three-under-par 69 in the second round to help Wittenberg rally to make the 15-team cut by a single stroke. Wetterich added rounds of 78, 76 and 74 for a four-round total of 297 to become just the eighth player in program history to finish in the top 15 at an NCAA Tournament.

 Off the course, Wetterich earned a degree in Marketing with a minor in Sports Management.
