SEWICKLEY, Pa. — The Wittenberg women's golf team sits in fourth place after Monday's first round of the four-team Win Palmer Cup.
The Basics
- Venue: Allegheny Country Club - Sewickley, Pa., Par 71, Yardage: 5,055
- Wittenberg is serving as the host school for the tournament.
- Joining Wittenberg in the four-team field are Washington & Jefferson, Westminster and Denison. Denison received votes in the latest NCAA Division III Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll, which was released April 12.
The Tournament - Day 1
- Wittenberg closed the first round with a 49-over-par 333.
- Denison leads the field after shooting an opening-round 4-over-par 288. Washington & Jefferson is second with a 29-over-par 313, and Westminster is third with a 37-over-par 321.
- Sophomore Izzy Selby (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) and junior Halley McNair (Cincinnati, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) paced Wittenberg on the day, shooting an 11-over-par 82 to sit tied for 12th place in the 24-woman field.
- Senior Ellen Frame (Mason, Ohio/Mason) is tied for 15th with a 13-over-par 84.
- Sophomore Hillary Humbaugh (Haubstadt, Ind./Gibson Southern) is 17th with a 14-over-par 85.
- Freshman Taylor Rausch (Mechanicsburg, Ohio/Mechanicsburg) is 22nd with a 19-over-par 90.
- Junior Anna Longbrake (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) is 24th with a 30-over-par 101.
- Denison's Kate Griffin leads the field after shooting a first-round 1-under-par 70. Denison's Isabella Dolan is second at even par, and Denison's Ella McRoberts and W&J's Mackenzie Schmeltz are tied for third at 2-over-par.
