PINE MOUNTAIN, Georgia—Wittenberg women's golf opened up 2017 play with a third place finish at the Callaway Garden's Collegiate in Pine Mountain Georgia on Monday and Tuesday. The Tigers combined for a 629 (+53) in the two-round event, as the Tigers finished behind Rhodes College (+42), and Berry College (+49) to take home third place.
The Tigers were led by Jane Hopkinson-Wood who finished the week tied for fourth-place individually. The junior came in +4 at the turn before finishing up her round with a five-over 77. Brianna Yee finished tied for tenth in Georgia, carding an 82 at the, 5809 yard Lake View course.
As a team, Wittenberg recorded 19 birdies over the two-rounds, as Hopkinson-Wood totaled eight in the tournament. The Tigers positioned themselves ahead of the pack in first place after a round one 306 before carding a 323 as a team on Tuesday.
The Tigers now await the OGIO-Bulldog Classic in Indio, California on March 27 and 28.
