NORMAL, Ill. – Wittenberg's women's golf team went toe-to-toe with some of the nation's finest for a second straight week and measured up quite well, finishing fourth in the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling.

Wittenberg accumulated 664 strokes over two rounds on the Ironwood Golf Course as the Tigers moved up one spot on Day 2. North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival DePauw, the No. 6 team in the nation, won the event with a 619, followed by third-ranked Washington University at 640 and ninth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan at 646.

The 10th-ranked Tigers were coming off a seventh-place finish at Washington University's Spring Invitational a week earlier. The two events served as a tune-up for the two-week NCAC Championship Series, which opens Saturday, April 27, at Granville Golf Club.

Individually, freshman Maggie Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) was outstanding with a two-round total of 160, which was good for eighth place. The 160 was Smith's second-best two-round score of the 2012-13 season, and her Round 2 score of 76 was just one stroke off her best single round score.

Freshman Allie Lawwill (Springboro, Ohio/Middletown) placed 19th with a 165, followed by sophomore Carolyn Wong (Naperville, Ill./Central) in 23rd with a 167, sophomore Nicole Waers (Canton, Ohio/Perry) in 35th with a 172, and junior Deanna Mychalishyn (Mason, Ohio/Mason) in 37th with a 173.
