MEADVILLE, Pa. — Playing in miserable weather conditions over two days at the Country Club of Meadville, the Wittenberg women's golf team checked in at No. 3 in the six-team North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship Series #1, hosted by Allegheny.

The event was the first leg of a two-week, four-round competition that will determine the second-ever NCAC champion. Third-ranked DePauw, in its first year as an NCAC member, took first place in the NCAC Championship Series #1 with a two-day total of 644. Thirteenth-ranked Allegheny finished 12 strokes behind, and 21st-ranked Wittenberg was a distant third at 688.

Individually, Wittenberg was paced by freshman Rachel Steiner (Hamilton, Ohio/Lakota West) with a two-round total of 164, good for fifth place. SophomoreDeanna Mychalishyn (Mason, Ohio/Mason) was next with a 171 to place 12th.

Senior Anne Busam (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline) added a 175 to place 15th and freshman Nicole Waers (Canton, Ohio/Perry) rounded things out with a 17th-place finish after carding a two-round total of 180 on the par-73, 5,365-yard course.
