New Look Tigers Take Fourth At NCAA Preview

ANGOLA, Ind. — The Wittenberg Tigers rolled out a new-look line-up to open the 2011-12 season and the dividends were almost immediate as they claimed fourth place in the 13-team field assembled at the NCAA Division III Fall Preview, hosted by Trine University.

Washington University won the competition with a two-day total of 621, 20 strokes clear of second-place DePauw. Olivet placed third with a 660, with Wittenberg rounding out the top four with a 668.

The Tigers' top finisher was freshman Nicole Waers (Canton, Ohio/Perry), who carded rounds of 78 and 83 to place 10th with a two-day total of 668. FreshmanRachel Steiner (Hamilton, Ohio/Lakota West) was next for Wittenberg with rounds of 84 and 82 to place 16th.

Sophomore Deanna Mychalishyn (Mason, Ohio/Mason) placed 24th with total of 169, followed by freshman Carolyn Wong (Naperville, Ill./Central) in 29th with a 174. Rounding things out was junior Miranda Petit (Crawfordsville, Ind./North Montgomery), who improved 13 strokes on the second day to contribute a solid 83 to the team total. She placed 38th with a 179.
